How many counselling sessions will myself or my child need?
This is unique to everyone’s situation and not a simple answer. Please feel free to ask this question to your counsellor in the initial session, or any subsequent sessions. Ongoing discussions around how often sessions should occur and how long to continue are consistently taken into consideration.
Is counselling confidential?
Everything an individual aged 12 and above shares within a session is confidential, except in the following situations:
- If the client or anyone else is at imminent risk of harm;
- If a child or vulnerable adult is at risk of being abused or neglected;
- If a child or vulnerable adult is being abused or neglected;
- If a subpoena is ordered in a court of law; and,
- If you provide written consent allowing confidential information to be shared.
Is counselling covered by extended medical?
Most extended medical plans cover therapy provided by a registered clinical counsellor (RCC). Please be sure to confirm your plan benefits before scheduling your initial session. Once you receive your session receipt you can submit it to your plan to receive a reimbursement.
What forms of payment do you accept?
- Cheque;
- Credit Card;
- E-transfer; and,
- Autism Funding Unit (AFU).
How long are sessions?
Typically, counselling sessions are 50 or 75 minutes in duration. In certain situations, a counsellor can arrange longer or shorter appointments. Please connect with your counsellor for more information on session duration.
How much do sessions cost?
Sessions start from $150.00 depending on the session length.
Where do sessions occur?
- We offer counselling in two locations: Burnaby and Surrey, BC;
- In the community;
- At the client’s home; and,
- Online.
