Youth Counselling at Willow and Sage Counselling

Adolescence can be a challenging time filled with rapid changes, increasing responsibilities, and complex emotions. At Willow and Sage Counselling, we offer a warm and supportive space where youth feel empowered to navigate life’s ups and downs. Our approach helps build the skills needed for independence, emotional wellbeing, and confidence in day-to-day life.

What to Expect

Our process begins with a parent intake session to gather background information, discuss concerns, and better understand your family’s needs. This sets the foundation for meaningful support tailored to your youth.

Learn More

In the first youth session, we focus on rapport building, supporting emotional regulation, and exploring their personal goals. We aim to create a comfortable, judgement-free environment where they feel heard and valued.

During the initial phase of therapy, we focus on creating a supportive and trusting environment. This stage emphasizes rapport-building, helping youth feel comfortable and valued. We work collaboratively to help youth build the skills they need to process and accept experiences on their own, fostering emotional awareness, problem-solving, and independence as we move forward.

In the middle stage, we introduce more targeted skill-building based on specific goals. This may involve exploring triggers, practising coping strategies, and providing actionable tools to navigate daily challenges. Homework or strategies may be provided to reinforce progress outside of sessions.

As we approach the end stage, the focus shifts to maintaining these skills in everyday life. Session frequency is gradually reduced as youth build confidence in applying what they have learned. We also process and reflect on growth and experiences to ensure lasting resilience.
